CALCINER BURNING CHAMBER - FBC (FIRE BED COMBUSTER)

Fire Bed Combustor :
The cement clinker process demands significant energy. Therefore, many cement plants face the daily challenge of conserving resources and reducing fuel costs by utilizing alternative fuels. It is now common practice to burn alternative fuels such as used oil, solvents, and sawdust. However, burning materials like used paper, packaging waste, and plastics requires extensive pre-processing to produce flyable particles of similar size.

Key Features:
** Designed for a wide range of fuels
** Available as a retrofit for existing calciners
** Separates flyable and coarser fuels
** Wing design optimized for self-cleaning
** Increases tertiary air temperature with remaining energy
** Main portion of energy is released inside the calciner

IKN Technology Overview:
IKN’s solution to reduce pre-processing is the Fire Bed Combustor (FBC). The FBC is a reactor that is flange-mounted to the calciner. It acts as a fuel separator and combustor for non-flyable or limited flyable particles without requiring moveable parts or pneumatics to move the fuel particles. Inside the FBC, horizontal heat-resistant wings are surrounded by hot tertiary air. Non-flyable particles remain on the wings inside the reactor until the tertiary air picks them up to be burned inside the calciner. When used in combination with an FBC, the calciner can handle additional portions of coarse, non-flyable particles.
